Module 2: Youth Violence

Introduction

The second presentation in Module 2, Youth Violence, introduces you to the scope of the youth violence problem. In this presentation, you will learn about types of youth violence, the occurrence and consequences of youth violence worldwide and in the United States, the application of the Socio-Ecological Model to youth violence, and how primary prevention broadens the work of those working in youth violence prevention.

Competencies addressed:

  • Ability to describe and explain youth violence as a major social and health problem
  • Explain how youth violence is preventable
  • Explain the interrelationship of youth violence with other forms of violence

  • Define and describe the scope and some of the types of youth violence
