A Unique Training Experience
The PREVENT Workshop is an introductory-level training for teams of practitioners who are just beginning to think about preventing violence before it starts. The Workshop will focus on introducing the concept of primary prevention and the public health model as well as key conepts in program planning (such as creating goals & ojectives, building logic models, and considering evaluation when planning). Teams that have been working on the primary prevention of violence for some time may not benefit as much from the Workshop and are encouraged to apply for the PREVENT Institute which is a more advanced, intensive training experience. )

Partnerships are fundamental to the success of community-based programs, therefore, this workshop is only for multi-organizational teams. For example a team might consist of 3-5 members including representatives from some of the following organizations: a statewide coalition; state health department; local youth program; faith-based organization; local school system; justice system; or a local victim services organization. Please indicate on the application form, the names of other team members who will be applying. A team may include a maximum of five members.

We are thrilled to be able to offer these workshops and look forward to seeing you at one of the regional locations in the future.

Your participation in PREVENT training (tuition, materials and room & board) is supported by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.  This training is available to violence prevention practitioners and their partners from the United States and US Territories.
